BPR Consulting Group ( is seeking an experienced and certified Deputy Building Official / Senior Building Inspector to join our growing company and serve one of our key clients in the Chico area.
The successful candidates must possess the ability to work independently, communicate effectively and maintain professional working relationships with clients, coworkers, and permit applicants. Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
The qualified candidate will assist the Building Official in planning, organizing all building division functions that include plan check, inspection, building permit issuance and will enforce and interpret State of California and local building codes, ordinances, and regulations related to safety, construction, and occupancy of structures.

1. Manages Building Department operations for an assigned client agency.
2. Apply knowledge of building codes, policies, and procedures to the day-to-day functions of a building department.
3. Consults with engineers, architects, developers, contractors, and the public on construction and building code issues, responds to questions regarding codes and regulations.
4. Plan review of minor projects for residential and commercial building, alterations, remodels, and additions.
5. Performs field inspections on all phases of residential and commercial construction.
6. Issues Certificates of Occupancy for completed projects.
7. Creates and maintains reports, plan review files, and inspection logs for all building projects.
8. Maintains clients permitting database.
9. Performs all work consistent with BPR's and Clients policies and procedures.
10. Provides all services in an efficient, proactive, and client focused manner.

This full-time or part-time position has a salary range of $45-60 per hour, based on experience, qualifications and certifications.
