This position is responsible for safe and efficient vessel operation on the Western River system.

Pay Range: Salary, exempt

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Adhere to all company policies
  • Follow company’s safety guidelines
  • Follow directions
  • Be able to visually inspect
  • Work around operating equipment
  • Utilize eye/hand coordination
  • Use/knowledge of hand tools
  • Work well in a team environment
  • Adhere to all company policies and United States Coast Guard regulations
  • Safely and efficiently manage vessel and crew
  • Administer company training to crew
  • Evaluate performance of crew
  • Maintain vessel documentation such as daily log, trip manifests and radiotelephone logs
  • Manage payroll
  • Maintain vessel equipment and supplies

Experience

  • Familiar with United States Coast Guard regulations
  • Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC card)
  • United States Coast Guard – Master of Towing License
  • Radar Observer Certification
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Basic computer skills

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • High School Diploma or GED, preferred
  • Reliable transportation
  • Regular and punctual attendance
  • Effective communication is required; able to hear, comprehend and follow verbal instructions communicated in the English language
  • Must be able to work safely and effectively as part of a team or independently
  • Wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), required
  • Must be able to successfully pass a post offer drug test and background check
  • Ability to work in the United States without sponsorship

Job Schedule and Physical Demands

  • Must be able to work overtime, weekends and holidays as needed or as schedule requires (subject to applicant’s religious practices)
  • Must be able to work 7 days a week with 12-hour shifts (subject to the applicant’s religious practices)
  • Ability/willingness to work any shift assigned
  • Ability to lift floor-to-waist and waist-to-overhead
  • Ability to push/pull as needed
  • Standing, bending, step climbing, crawling and working overhead
  • Ability to perform heavy labor and lift 50+ pounds as needed
